Rehumaning and Thriving in a Digitized World: Stephanie Malia Krauss

Stephanie Malia Krauss shares her journey from a GED recipient to a thought leader in human development. She discusses the concept of rehumaning our lives amidst modern challenges, emphasizing the importance of collective care, sleep, community, and lifelong learning for thriving in a digitized world. For more than two decades, Stephanie has worked with schools, youth programs, foundations, and government partnerships, helping communities rethink how we care for young people and ourselves. She began her career as a teacher and coach, went on to found a school for youth furthest from opportunity, and later led national efforts in education and youth development.

Working with leaders from the classroom to Congress, Stephanie advises states, school districts, and national nonprofits on holistic strategies that prepare and care for kids. Her work blends research with lived experience, always asking what it takes for young people to thrive over the long haul.

Her newest book, HowWe Thrive: Caring for Kids and Ourselves in a Changing World, introduces the concept of rehumaning: the practice of protecting and prioritizing what makes us most human in an increasingly demanding world. She is also the author of Whole Child, Whole Life and Making It, and her work has been featured on PBS NewsHour, NPR, U.S. News& World Report, Scary Mommy, and more.
